Annual Report 2016-17: The Quizzers’ League has been one of the prominent and better received forums this year largely due to the number of events held and because of the simplicity of the nature of events.
The League for 2016-17 had the difficult task of matching up to previous years’ performance. The league has a general record of a number of events and admirable participation across the years. This year, a number of new quizzes and ideas were introduced to do the same.
The year began with the GK Quiz or the Warm-up Quiz held on the 28th of July 2016 to acquaint the junior college students with the idea of quizzing and meant as a ‘hands-on’ orientation for them. The quiz was well received by the junior college students. The quiz was well-received with more than 20 participants trying their hand at what would be the start of a year-long practice.
Quizzers’ Arena with a war-centric theme was held in August 2016. This inter-college quizzing festival has now seen a lot of participants who come every year and have become regular members of the competition. In 2016 once again QA was a roaring success with participants appearing in large numbers for each of the quizzes. The winners from the individual quizzes then duelled it out in the Mega-quiz per tradition.
A new quiz called ‘Who Doesn’t Want to Be a Millionaire’ was held at MONETA 2016 in December. This was a national level inter-college quiz and witnessed a packed classroom with more than 50 participants. The quiz included very new formats. It also was a chance for us to introduce the idea of a quiz where no one is eliminated very quickly allowing most participants to enjoy the event.

Quiz 1 : The Entertainment Quiz
The Quizzers League began its activities for the year 2013-14 with the Entertainment Quiz on 20th July, 2013.

The Entertainment Quiz has always been a very popular Quiz with all Podarites and this time they were treated to some amazing quizzing.

A total of 50 students participated in the Quiz right from First Year Junior College to Third Year B.Com and BMS Students. The first round was a written elimination round through which 6 participants were selected. The next round was a ‘Visual Round’, wherein participants were judged on their knowledge of the Entertainment World through pictures and was thoroughly enjoyed by all. At the end of this round, 2 teams were eliminated and the remaining 4 teams proceeded to the next round – the ’Audio Round’.

The final round was a ‘Rapid-fire’ round between 2 teams who scored the most in Round 3. In the final round, in a minute, multiple Questions were bombarded on both teams, and Ankit and Dakshil of SYJC managed a nail-biting finish over Girish and Mihir of the Third Year B.Com.

Participants were tested on Questions ranging from ‘Sarabhai and Sarabhai’ to ‘F.R.I.E.N.D.S’ and from ‘Titanic’ to the epic ‘Mughal-e-Azam’.

The participants had a real tough time getting the answers right, but at the same time they enjoyed a ‘Serious’ Entertainment Quiz and so did the audience who also got a prize for getting the unanswered questions right.

Quizzers Arena
Quizzers Arena entered its 2nd year in 2013, and it went bigger and better! QA witnessed 6 quizzes, from each sphere of life. Entertainment Quiz, Quizzolympics (Sports Quiz), Indo-Genius (Quiz on India), Ecopolitico Quiz, Business & Brand Equity Quiz and The Attorney’s Inquisitions (Quiz on Law) were the six quizzes held. Each quiz had a variety of creative ideas that redefined the question and answer form of every quiz! A tour of India, a crime scene investigation, an IPL auction where money was decided on the bases of correct answers, TV ads in audio form and economy stakes were some of them.

Ultimately, 6 teams won the six quizzes and made it to the mega quiz called The Renaissance. The Renaissance began with a quizzing treasure hunt, and the teams enjoyed this fun concept! It went on to 5 more interesting such rounds and concluded with the winning team from Advani Law College as the quizzing maestros. The winning team received the trophy and several prizes and praised the team’s efforts in preparing the most creative quizzes they had ever seen!

Quizzers Arena looks forward to many such successful years in the future, and plans to get bigger and better with every passing year!

Quiz 2 : The Sports Quiz
The Sports Quiz was attended in large numbers not only by Degree but also Junior College Students.

It had a turnout of around 50 participants; all eager to show their knowledge in the sporting world. They were tested on all sports from football, cricket, and tennis to motor-sport, golf and hockey.

The quiz also witnessed a huge audience turnout thanks to the mass appeal of the quiz

Moneta 2013
R.A.Podar hosted its annual national level financial market and economics event Moneta from 6th to 9th December, 2013.

The Hour
Number of Participants – 2 participants per team
Number of Rounds - 2

ROUND 1: The Eliminator
The Elimination round consisted of 30 multiple choice questions which the teams had to attempt in half an hour. The questions were based on mainly Finance and Economics. Top 6 teams qualified to the Final Round which was an eye-catcher.

ROUND 2: Board game
Participation: 6 teams
Top 6 teams which qualified from the eliminator had to fight for the top three places through a board game. The format of the board game was as under -

Each colour represented a particular genre. Blue included questions from the fields of Business and Economics whereas Green contained questions related to Politics and Finance. The boxes marked in red contained questions from all four fields but those were the most difficult of the lot. The teams which scored more points in the eliminators got a head start in the board game. The basic rules of the game were as follows –

1. Out of the two people in the team, one person would be strategically moving along the board and the other would face questions from the hosts. No team member would communicate to each other during the event.

2. Only perpendicular movement was allowed on the board game unless the participant was on red (which was the shortcut to finish the game)
Being one of the major attractions during Moneta, this event delivered entertainment with knowledge and the participants found it difficult to decide which way they should go and to what extent they should trust their partner with a particular field. The greedy red path which was tempting to most of the participants later proved to be the most difficult way to win the Finals. The teams acknowledged the idea of a customised board game and the way in which the round was conducted. Top three teams to reach the 45th box were adjudged the winners. ii) Eliminations for Competitions:
Eliminations for Competitions in Moneta which involved Multiple Choice Questions were hosted by the Quizzers’ League.
