Marathi Language and Literary Circle

Marathi Literary Circle, primarily formed to promote Marathi culture, is a forum which strives to support talent and creativity of all students. It encourages emerging talent and aims for the overall development of the students.

Annual Report 2016-17:

Guru Purnima was celebrated on 19th July, 2016, with Sahuraja Siras the honourable guest.
The forum organized an Online Essay Competition on 5th August, 2016 for the first time, on the occasion of Friendship Day. A quiz competition ‘Aajcha Maharashtra’ was held on 29th September, 2016.
On 4th October, 2016, Navratri was celebrated by hosting Bhondla and Garba along with the Gujarati Literary Circle.
‘Samvidhan Din’ was celebrated on 26th November, 2016 where the students discussed the importance of the Constitution of India.
The ‘Marathi Rajbhasha Din’ was celebrated on 27th February, 2017 by the students expressing their love towards Marathi language and culture by performing various arts.

On 1st May, 2016, the ‘Maharashtra Din’ program was conducted where the students remembered all the martyrs for the formation of our state through speeches.

Activities conducted during the year 2015-16:

The Marathi literary circle completed its 75th year successfully.In the year 2015-16.
The Marathi literary circle organised many events such as “GURUPORNIMA”, “BHONDLA”, “ANANDYATRI EK ANANTKALIN PRAVAS”, “EK DIVAS NATKACHA”, “MARATHI RAJBHASHA DIN”, “MAHARASHTRA DIN”.
On 31st july,2015 the event named Gurupornima had been conducted. On this occasion well known personalities “MR. UDAY TIKEKAR” and “MR.MUKUND TILE” were present as our chief guest. On the special occasion of NAVRATRI an event named bhondla was organised on 19th of October. This festival marks the beginning of ‘HASTA NAKSHATRA’ i.e. the season when crops are ready in farms and women celebrate their creative talents by singing songs and making a circle around an elephant figure (symbol of fertility). The uniqueness of this event was marked by the lady teachers and girl students dancing together.
On 27th January,2016 Marathi literary circle organized an event “ANANDYATRI EK ANANTKALIN PRAVAS” which was a tribute to a well known poet and Padma bhushan recipient LATE SHRI.MANGESH KESHAV PADGAONKAR. The event received tremendous response from colleges like Ruia, Ruparel and Sathye. One more event named “Marathi Rajbhasha din” was held on 27th February,2016.
Mudra has tried its level best to organize events which provide a platform for rising talent. Sincere thanks to our Principal Dr. Shobana Vasudevan for encouraging and supporting us. All the success was achieved by the integrated efforts of the whole Mudra team.

Activities conducted during the year 2014-15:

The Marathi Literary Circle works for the enhancement of the interest, respect and devotion of the students towards Marathi language. The forum was named “Mudra”. Various Intra as well as Inter-collegiate events and competitions were held during the year. The Professor-in-charge for the forum was Mrs. Ranjana Ganpule.

Intra-collegiate ‘Debate & Elocution Competition’ was held on July 17, 2014. Around 25 students participated. The winners were given preference for Debate & Elocution competitions of Youth Festival held by University of Mumbai. Nurturing the traditions, ‘Bhondla’ was organized on October 1, 2014. This festival marks the beginning of ‘Hasta Nakshatra’ i.e. the season when crops are ready in farms and women celebrate their creative talents by singing songs and making a circle around an elephant figure (symbol of fertility). The uniqueness of this event was marked by the lady teachers and girl students dancing together. The renowned newspaper Maharashtra Times highlighted this event the next day by publishing a report about it.

‘Inter-collegiate Poem Recitation Program’ was held on December 10th, 2014. Students were told to present their own poems on the topic ‘College Life’. The event received tremendous response from colleges like Ruia, Ruparel and Sathye. The event was graced by the presence and guidance of the poetess Neeraja, who is an English teacher in our junior college.

Activities conducted during the year 2013-14

An Elocution competition was the first event of The Marathi Literary Circle which was held on 23/07/2013. The topics for the competition were as follows:

1. Ban on use of mobile in college
2. Uttarakhand disaster manmade or nature’s calamity?
3. The Courtyard is missing

The winners of the competition were:
First prize: Shakanbary Amol Kale ( Junior college)
First prize: Sayali Suhas Kharat (Senior college)
Second prize: Anagha Ravindra Wani (senior college)

The second event of MLC was poetry recitation. It was conducted on 6/08/2013.This event had got a very good response from the students. Around twenty
students recited their own poems. The topic for the poems was RAIN.

The third event of MLC was Bhondala. On 10/10/2013 on the auspicious occasion of Navatri MLC had organized Bhondala. All the ladies’ staff members and female students participated in it.
