R.A. Podar College of Commerce and Economics joined the select league of autonomous colleges in India on 12th February 2019, marking a significant milestone in its academic journey. Autonomy has empowered the College to deliver a more dynamic, inclusive, and industry-relevant education in the field of commerce.

Under academic autonomy, the College enjoys the freedom to design its own curriculum, develop innovative teaching and evaluation methods, and implement academic practices that meet global standards. The Board of Studies, in consultation with industry experts and academicians, frames the syllabus, which is then approved by the Academic Council and the Governing Body of the College.

While remaining affiliated to the University of Mumbai, the College functions independently in terms of academic planning and execution—conducting its own examinations, assessments, and results—ensuring flexibility and responsiveness to emerging trends and student needs.Autonomy has enabled the College to enhance the quality of education, nurture the intellect of the learners—individuals who can think critically, analyze effectively, synthesize knowledge, deliberate with insight, and make informed decisions.

The implementation of autonomy has brought with it greater transparency and accountability, thereby elevating academic standards and strengthening the global competitiveness of R.A. Podar College of Commerce and Economics.
